I'm a maker. I'm an all-around designer, producing tailored, rich experiences that tell stories and empower brands.
For as long as I can remember, my passion has been rooted in art. At a young age, I started subconsciously studying artistic styles. I remember cutting out specific characters and scenes from the cartoons in the Sunday paper. In high school, I took a computer graphics course before I even had a Facebook account (which was still only offered to college students). Senior year, I was voted “Most Creative” out of almost 800 people.
My love for design allowed me to more quickly gain acceptance to James Madison University’s School of Media Arts and Design, where I concentrated in Converged Media/Interactive Design and minored in Studio Art. While at JMU, I was surrounded by actively engaged and creative-thinking people who shared my love of art.
Since graduating, I have been working professionally in the design field for over 11 years and my passion only continues to grow. I balance my day job with personal creative work, either making things for my home or maintaining orders from my Etsy shop, 1728 Design Co. I find ways to be creative in every aspect of my life. As a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), I enjoy attending design events and workshops around the Washington D.C. metro area.
My creative approach—no matter the medium—is highly iterative. I like to brainstorm visually, whether with pen+paper or mouse+screen, and I'm a firm believer that "practice makes progress".
I have extensive experience in fast moving work environments and can produce high quality content within tight deadlines. I pride myself in having a meticulous eye for detail and that’s one of the things that matters most to me.
You'll often find me with a yellow Red Bull in my hand. Or a gose-style beer, if it’s after work. I'm proudly developing a green thumb. I admire the heart in snail mail, and feel that opening a handwritten letter will always be better than an email. I drink iced coffee year-round. I'm an advocate for the Oxford Comma. I’m a mom to two beautiful children, and a dog mom to a Vizsla and a GSP. I could eat sushi every day. My favorite Candlefish fragrance is No. 91. I'm a Big Brother superfan. My secret talents are throwing a heck of a themed party and gift-giving. I'm a sucker for good branding and a clean interface.
